US ex-gang boss denied clemency
I can’t believe it. Arnold made the decision to execute this man. “After studying the evidence, searching the history, listening to the arguments and wrestling with the profound consequences, I could find no justification for granting clemency,” he said to the press. During his 24 years in jail, he has earned respect from people such as Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg (a former Crips member as well), Bishop Desmond Tutu and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and also earned Nobel Peace Prize nomiations for his teachings against gang violence.
Why would you get rid of a guy like that, a guy that now does all this good stuff in order to fight the gang violence. A guy that finally gang members can look up as a role model and have someone that understands them to help them get better and all. He is in a position to help a lot of the young gang members find the right path. I hope that his writings will be distributed to a wide audience even after his death. Tuesday will be a sad day and most probably a very violent day as people will be mad for this execution. Still can’t believe this decision of the governor. Execution seems like such a barbarian thing to do. They should really take their Canadian neighbor as a model on this one. Americans are monsters. It’s just hard to wrap my head around this one.
BBC news says, “Williams is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 0001 (0801 GMT) at San Quentin prison, north of San Francisco.” Rest in peace man.
