Whitby Half Marathon 2011

About a week ago, I ran the WIN half marathon in Whitby, Ontario. Unfortunately, I hadn’t had time to post pictures until just now, but here are a few photos that my wife took of me (and my friend) running. We had a great cheering squad (see pictures) and we both finished in really good times (our personal best!). It was my first race and so I have to say that I am really proud of my result: 1:44:28. Even though it’s an already pretty good result, I will try to improve on that in my next race: the Scotiabank Waterfront half marathon in Toronto on October 16th.

J’ai courru le demi marathon de Whitby il y a près d’une semaine. Malheureusement, je n’ai pas eu le temps de vous montrer des photos jusqu’à maintenant, et donc voici quelques photos que ma femme a prisent lors de ma course. Nous avions une super équipe de supportaires qui nous on aidés à finir avec de super bon temps. C’était ma première course et je dois dire que je suis très fier de mon temps: 1:44:28. Je vais bien sûr essayer de m’améliorer lors de ma prochaine course: le demi marathon Scotiabank Waterfront de Toronto le 16 octobre.

Tour de Bloc 8: Boulderz

Boulderz was the host of the fourth competition in the Eastern division this year. Although the gym is quite a bit smaller than other venues, they managed to create space by splitting off the climbers into three groups (two on Saturday and one on Sunday). Andrew and his team of setters (Chris Muzilla, Tony Berlier and Aaron Eden) did a great job at putting up problems for both qualifiers and finals. Even though two of the men’s final problems, #2 and #4, were maybe slightly too hard, they still made for a great show! More importantly, they also seperated the finalists pretty well. Congrats to TJ Quan for winning his first ever Tour de Bloc competition! Once again, team Allez Up did very well!

La quatrième compétition de l’Est était à Boulderz la semaine passée. Malgré le fait que le centre d’escalade est plutot petit, les organisateurs ont quand même réussis à créer de l’espace en séparant les compétiteurs en trois groupes (deux le Samedi et un le Dimanche). Andrewet son équipe d’ouvreurs (Chris Muzilla, Tony Berlier and Aaron Eden) ont fait un super bon travail avec les blocs de qualifs et les blocs de finales. Malheureusement, deux des problèmes de finale des hommes étaient un peu trop difficile (#2 et #4), mais ils étaient quand même super intéressant à regarder! Ils ont aussi fait une très bonne séparation des finalistes. Je me dois de féliciter TJ Quan pour sa toute première victoire dans un Tour de Bloc! Et encore une fois, le team Allez Up a très bien réussi la fin de semaine passée!

Tour de Bloc 8: Guelph Grotto

Rock Climbing / Tour de Bloc

The second leg of the Tour de Bloc 8 was held at the recently renovated Guelph Grotto climbing gym. Although some of the regular Eastern division contenders were not there, Yves Gravelle, Sebastien Lazure, and Melissa Lacasse, to name only a few, the people that did show up were super strong! As always, the problems were really interesting, both fields were stacked with strong contenders, and the energy was awesome! All in all, another great competition!

La deuxième compétition du Tour de Bloc 8 a eu lieu à la Grotto de Guelph, dans leur gym tout nouvellement rénové. Malgré que plusieurs des grimpeurs forts de l’Est n’y était pas, par example Yves Gravelle, Sébastien Lazure, et Mélissa Lacasse, pour en nommer quelques uns, les compétiteurs (et compétitrices) qui sont venus étaient super forts!! Comme toujours, les problèmes étaient super intéressant, la compétition était rempli de grimpeurs super forts, et l’énergie en générale était génial! Une autre super compétition.

Summer weekend at the cottage

We took this last weekend off from climbing up north and went to the cottage. I think our bodies appreciated the rest! Time at the cottage consists of card games, board games, lots of swimming, and lots of eating. This time around, it even included a midnight stroll to the pond to take photos of the stars. It was my first time at the pond during the night and it won’t be the last!! Enjoy the photos!

Nous avons pris congé de l’escalade le weekend passé et sommes allé au chalet. Nos corps ont bien apprecié le repos! Le temps au chalet consiste de jeux de cartes, jeux de sociétés, beaucoup de nage, et plein de bouffe. Cette fois-ci, nous avons même été prendre une marche à minuit au lac pour prendre des photos des étoiles. C’était la première fois que j’allais au lac la nuit, et ça ne sera pas la dernière. Enjoy!
